SHAH ALAM, 10 Oct: The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) established the Quick Response Team (Skuad Pantas)  to distribute the initial report regarding the flood situation to the security forces.

MPK in a statement said, the team will be ready 24 hours to deal with floods and will act as a early team in case of emergency.

"MPK are always ready to launch a temporary movement center in affected areas to help floods victims in terms of security and logistics. "MPK also actively implementing ditch cleaning work involving eight regions in the area in preparation for the floods, including dredging and taking out the trash," he said

At the same time, he said, enforcement agencies regularly monitor areas often face floods through 76 locations Closed Circuit Camera (CCTV) by CCTV Unit MPK.

In addition, he said, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department ordered all fire stations in the country to ensure flood ops assets are in good condition and can be used in addition to patrol the areas identified in the monitoring of flooding.

"In the event of a flood, all the multipurpose halls will be prepared as evacuation centers and up to now we have 24 halls that can be used as evacuation centers," he said.

So far, 414 relief centers open 24 hours to accommodate the tide phenomenon in the affected areas. Previously, the Selangor State Secretary's Office said in a statement confirming the high tide phenomenon will occur the second time 16 to 21 October. Among the areas affected are Klang, Kuala Langat, Sepang, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam.
